No Arab loves the desert. We love water and green trees.
There is nothing in the desert, and no man needs nothing.

Here’s an interesting question.

Who’s the most powerful man in the Middle East?

Well, if you have been reading the news headlines this past year, you might be thinking of two names:

  • Ali Khamenei — the Supreme Leader of Iran.
  • Benjamin Netanyahu — the Prime Minister of Israel.

Since October 7, 2023, the sound and fury between them have been intense:

  • Yes, these two men understand that the media spotlight is on them. And they know that their every word and gesture is being closely watched.
  • So, like it or not, they have become Shakespearean actors now. Performing on a grand stage. For audiences both domestic and foreign.
  • This is about more than just bullets and bombs. This is about who can sway emotions and shape ideologies. And in doing so, they hope to tilt the scales in their favour.

So, will Iran and Israel actually go nuts? Will they escalate things to the point that they actually destroy each other?

  • Well, the short answer is no. They can’t. Everybody has holy sites here. Everybody has religious treasures here. And more than anything, they would like their children and grandchildren to inherit these assets.
  • From the Crusades of the 11th century to the jihad of the 21st century, the storyline remains the same. This is a game of violent brinkmanship. Deeply habitual. Deeply cyclical. No one will ever totally win here. No one will ever totally lose either.
  • Indeed, there is a subconscious understanding that they will fight just enough to spill some blood and secure fleeting concessions — but not nearly enough to overturn the entire chessboard. This is a strange cultural dance.

So, what will happen next in the Middle East?

  • Well, as visible as Khamenei and Netanyahu may be, these two men are not nearly as influential as the media might suggest.
  • Look beyond the rage-baiting. Look beyond the angertainment. You will find that the biggest power broker here is actually Mohammed bin Salman.
  • As the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, he is smooth. He is ambitious. He is trying to chart a new economic path for the region. And for this reason, he has a direct impact on the health of your investment portfolio.
  • Here’s why you need to pay very close attention to what Mohammed bin Salman has been up to…
