If there  is one thing that we know for sure, it’s that not many people will want to go back to the office. You’re going to have to think outside the box if you want to make sure that you have the means to entice people away from working from home. Remote work has been well tested in the last couple of years, so you need to ensure that you are able to offer as much comfort as someone can get at home – and that means offering flexible options and not just demanding people come back!

Some companies got rid of the standard office options during the pandemic and chose to start up with their own Allied Modular buildings rather than paying out to other property companies. It’s time now, though, for most people to be heading back into the office and making the most of it. But how do you communicate those expectations? How do you convince people to get back into the office rather than work comfortably at home? Here’s some suggestions to help:

  • Make sure that people know the benefits of coming back. No one wants to have to commute if they don’t have to and that’s why you need to think about whether or not you can entice people to do it again. You need to remind them that work can be a place of socialization and fun and you can make it so that your workplace is exciting to be in. you want to make sure that people feel like they can relax at work just like at home. If productivity didn’t dip while they worked remotely, replicating the environment is important.

  • Offer flexible options. It’s nice to have people come back to the office but it can be better to give people a choice. Start with a couple of days per week and let people pick the days they come back. Starting small is smart as it doesn’t demand anything of anyone. It’s safer and cheaper to let people pick and choose their flexible days than to demand!

  • Make sure that they feel safe. If you have COVID rife in your community, make sure that your employees feel safe going into work. Adding hygiene stations and implementing a policy of staying at home when necessary will help people to feel at ease when they come back into the office. Paying attention to whether your employees are dealing with COVID at home is also smart. If you have built up new offices, add security measures to ensure that everyone feels ready to come back to the office and safe to do so; they’ll be happier for it!

  • Show that you are taking all the necessary steps toward success. You want to show people that you are confident about going back to the office. Doing so will mean that your employees will happily join you in that confidence. Communicate any new business changes to them so that they feel in the loop with all of the new plans.
